Linear relationships between two quantities

This is used for the Melting point of DNA. The idea behind the Linear relationship is to show that with more guanine/cytosine bonds take longer to melt. What they actually get from doing this is beyond the scope of this discussion and my understanding. But basically it is used to get the underline content of the DNA stand types.

In this formula:

• Na+ is the molar concentration
• GC is what differs in the buffer containing 1 M NaCl
• t_m is the temperature at which the double helix will denature
